Planned events and other opportunities include: a barbeque sponsored by the Geyserville Volunteer Firefighters’ Association and Healdsburg Firefighters’ Association, live fire training exercises, Employer-Employee Relations training, and classes dealing with leadership and resiliency.

Retired Chief Paul Stein to speak at CSFA Conference

“How Would You Like To Work For You” will be the topic of Chief Stein’s discussion. This extremely informative and motivating discussion will be taught by one of the most nationally renowned instructors on current leadership and management issues. Topics to be discussed are: 

  • To reveal survey results from 600 firefighters on fire service leadership qualities.
  • To identify the reasons for the leadership gap between supervisors and team members.
  • To list effective leadership qualities.
  • To list steps to bridge that leadership gap between leaders and team members.

Fire Service Labor/Management course premieres in Healdsburg; Class size is limited to the first 25 registrants 9/18-9/19

CSFA will host the inaugural offering of Fire Service Labor/Management Relations, a State Fire Training FSTEP course, prior to the 95th annual CSFA Conference in Healdsburg. This new course was developed over the last 24 months, and the instructors are John Torres and Paul Stein. Learn more and register for this course here!

Life Fire Training  - 9/19-9/20

There is no cost for these courses. Departments will need to enroll their volunteers and get them to and from the event. Twenty four (six per year) 2-day live fire training courses geared towards the specifications for Fire Control 3 certification will take place across California. Burn buildings and trailers will be rented and facilitated by experienced instructors in locations that will provide convenience for participation. Training will also include entanglement prop, low profile prop, ventilation prop and forecable entry prop. Register here for Live Fire Training.
