This letter is a request for donations on behalf of the newly developed Michael Hoffman Memorial Scholarship. Michael Hoffman, 18, was killed in a car accident in May 2010, two weeks before he was to graduate from Escondido High School. He wanted to be a firefighter like his father and grandfather. Bill Hoffman (father) is retired from the Oceanside Fire Department. Michael had taken a first-responder course and was headed for the emergency medical technician program at Palomar College in San Marcos.
