CSFA Committees


CSFA has a number of working committees that specialize in specific areas. If you would like to serve on a committee please contact Jeff Meston at Jeff.Meston@csfamail.com

Bylaws Committee

At the direction of the Board, to review the Bylaws of the Association and to maintain consistency when any changes occur. To provide counsel on any questions of propriety or legality. To attend the annual CSFA Conference and submit written committee reports to include oral reports when needed.

Education & Training Committee

To serve CSFA, its directors, committees, individual members, participating associations and others, as directed, regarding matters pertaining to fire service education, training, and professional development. To submit written and/or oral committee reports when needed.

Finance & Budget Committee

To provide the Board with a proposed balanced annual budget, serve as oversight for monitoring the Association's overall financial condition and to make recommendations pertaining to financial matters to the Board of Directors for their consideration. 

Fire/Arson Investigation Committee

To serve as a resource to the membership regarding issues relative to fire/arson investigation. To attend the annual CSFA Conference and submit written committee reports to include oral reports when needed.

Fire & Life Safety Committee

To support the organization in its efforts to prevent the loss of life and property due to fires, major emergencies and natural disasters, and minimize the impact of these incidents on the ecosystem and infrastructure, and to enhance the ability of its members, associated organizations, and legislators to address fire and life safety challenges and issues which can impact the quality of life of all Californians. To attend the annual CSFA Conference and submit written committee reports to include oral reports when needed.

LEDS Committee

The mission of the LEDS Committee is to bring a team of fire service leaders together that understand the importance of creating dialogue that focuses and addresses all aspects of Leadership, Equity, Diversity, and Service. Our beliefs come from our personal experience, our diverse backgrounds, and our commitment to an inclusive California Fire Service that serves everyone without bias or prejudgment. 

Retirement Issues Committee

To serve member associations and individual members in matters relating to retirement law, legislation and information. To attend the annual CSFA Conference and submit written committee reports to include oral reports when needed.

Workers' Compensation Committee

To serve the member associations, and individual members in any matter relating to Workers' Compensation benefits, legislation, information, and to work as a liaison to legal representatives. To attend the annual CSFA Conference and submit written committee reports to include oral reports when needed.

Valor Awards Committee

To publicly provide recognition for those persons throughout the State of California who have distinguished themselves by performing acts of heroism. To attend the annual CSFA Conference and submit written committee reports to include oral reports when needed

Committee for Volunteers

To provide a resource for the membership dealing with specific problems relative to the volunteer fire service. To attend the annual CSFA Conference and submit written committee reports to include oral reports when needed.

Emergency Medical Services Committee

The purpose of the CSFA EMS Committee is to manage all pre-hospital care and EMS-related issues in support and advancement of the CSFA mission.

Emerging Technology and Innovation Committee

The purpose of the CSFA Emerging technologies committee is to work collectively with the FIRESCOPE emerging technologies committee to move forward new advancements to assist the fire service in better protecting the citizens of California.

Fire Districts Committee

To provide a resource for the members dealing with specific problems pertaining to fire districts. To attend the annual CSFA Conference and submit written committee reports to include oral reports when needed.

Firefighter Health & Wellness Committee

To serve as an informational source, answering questions and advising fire agencies on all safety issues. To act as a resource arm for developing safety legislation. To attend the annual CSFA Conference and submit written committee reports to include oral reports when needed.

Legislative Committee

The purpose of the Legislative Committee is to assure that the members of the California State Fire Fighters Association have a voice in the State Capitol and be an active force in the creation and review of Legislation that impacts the Fire Service in California.  Working collaboratively with the legislative advocate and other Fire Service organizations, we strive to protect, support and enrich our members through positive legislative change. 

Pipes and Drums Ad Hoc Committee

CSFA in conjunction with the CSFA Historical Society, is forming a bagpipe and drum team. It is planned that this team will be utilized for funerals, memorials and other CSFA-related events and for fire, police and military events.

Resolutions Committee

To meet prior to the annual conference, to prepare resolutions for presentation to delegates. To meet during the annual conference to assist with the process of presentation of resolutions to delegates. To attend the annual CSFA Conference and submit written committee reports to include oral reports when needed.

Tribal Fire Department Committee

To promote and advocate the importance that Tribal Fire Departments play in the delivery of emergency services in the State of California. Additionally, to ensure that Tribal Fire Departments have equal representation and parity with other agencies within the California Fire Service.
