The USFA and UL’s Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI) have opened a national engagement period for the National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS) Draft Data Framework, with comments due by Friday, January 19, 2024.
NERIS is the new, interoperable fire information and analytics platform that will provide the American fire and emergency services community with reliable predictive analytics to support enhanced preparedness and response to all-hazard incidents; wildland urban interface events; community risk reduction efforts; climate change threats and associated resilience and mitigation efforts; and future pandemic emergency response resource preparedness.
USFA and FSRI are seeking feedback from the emergency services community on the draft Data Framework for NERIS. Specifically, input is needed on the newly developed data schemas that make up the Framework. These schemas, which are integral to the operations of NERIS, include a Fire Department Specification schema, a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) schema, and an Incident Data schema.
Your feedback is vital in shaping NERIS to be as effective and responsive as possible. The USFA and FSRI are committed to considering all feedback and incorporating valuable insights to enhance the NERIS Framework.
To provide your input, first download and review the Core NERIS Data Framework and schemas (Zip file, 1.1 MB). You can also check out the on-demand webinar, Understanding the Proposed NERIS Data Framework, which provides background information on the Framework.
Then, please use this feedback form to submit your input: https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/bb7ef7497960434aa88086539613aa41
To learn more, see FSRI’s announcement. Please email the NERIS Information Desk at [email protected] if you have questions or need more information. The engagement period ends on Friday, January 19, 2024.
