The San Diego Miramar College Fire Academy offers an extensive training program for aspiring firefighters, leading to the California State Fire Marshal Firefighter I Certification. This certification, accredited by both IFSAC and ProBoard, is recognized nationwide and serves as a prerequisite for employment with most fire departments. The academy’s curriculum encompasses essential firefighting skills, including fire suppression techniques, hazardous materials, fundamental principles of the Incident Command System, as well as building construction and firefighter safety protocols. This comprehensive training ensures that students acquire the critical knowledge and practical skills necessary for effective and safe fire service operations.

The Miramar Fire Academy Average number of classes per year two Academy Classes per year with an average number of forty-six cadets per class. 80% of our cadets from last spring were hired into a department after graduation.
