CSFA in cooperation with Woodland, West Sacramento and Yoche Dehe Fire Departments, is hosting its second annual Nor Cal Training Academy Jan. 24 – 28 in Woodland. Hands-on training will include a 12-hour interactive truck ops class, an 8-hour interactive engine ops class, and Fire Control 3. A Live Fire Day is set for Jan. 27 for students that complete the truck and engine ops classes.an
Classroom training will include Strike Team Leader, 10-Minute IC and Leadership: Why Firefighters Stay. On Jan. 24 Cody Trestrail, FDNY and Portland FD, ret. will offer a keynote titled, “Make The Grab: NOT Excuses”. This engaging presentation will take a deep dive into hard hitting truths that leave no room for excuses as Trestrail explores our mission and why we go inside. Says Trestrail, “performing searches should not be an afterthought, it should be regarded as our highest mission on the fireground. Our Oath is what makes us different, it separates us from the average citizen, and it’s why we have the utmost trust from all of humanity, from generation to generation, it’s sacred and it must be kept above all things and at all cost. Without the public’s trust we have no THEM to serve, we have NO Identity!”
Academy tuition is $200 for CSFA members and $300 for non-CSFA members. Volunteer firefighters can attend the Nor Cal Academy at no cost (but must register online). All hands-on training includes lunch each day. Follow here for more information and to register.
