Q: Shift work is causing me to have trouble sleeping at home. Would taking melatonin help?
A: Melatonin helps the body regulate the internal circadian rhythm, helping it know when it is day (awake) and night (sleep).
Melatonin has to be taken consistently and at the same time every day to be effective. Usually, no more than 3mg is needed to get results. The key is consistency and taking it at the same time daily.
