Goyette Ruano and Thompson (GRT), was born over 30 years ago from the vision of Paul Goyette, a former firefighter turned legal professional. Today, GRT is a team of skilled attorneys, labor representatives, and negotiators, many of whom bring decades of experience from serving on union executive boards.

Our journey has led us to represent a multitude of public sector labor unions across the Golden State of California which includes numerous city, county, and special district fire unions. We pride ourselves on offering a comprehensive suite of services tailored to each client’s unique needs. Our mission? To empower executive boards in their quest to represent their membership effectively, while also providing compassionate and experienced defense to individual firefighters and EMS personnel.

In 2020, we welcomed Rafael Ruano and Dan Thompson as partners, who now represent some of our largest fire union clients.

Our services extend beyond the traditional union matters. We offer:

We also represent clients in civil litigation (both plaintiff and defense), estate planning, small business representation, professional licensing defense (including EMTs and Paramedics), and criminal defense when needed. These services complement our client’s needs in the public safety sector, providing a comprehensive approach to any legal issue.

In addition, GRT maintains a close working relationship with the law firm Peacock and Bartlett, who assist in providing representation to GRT clients on all personal injury matters.
