Founded in 1922, the California State Firefighters’ Association (CSFA) has been at the forefront of representing and supporting fire service professionals throughout the Golden State. With a membership that spans every facet of the fire service, we are dedicated to building a strong community for all emergency responders.

At CSFA, we strive to foster a better understanding among our diverse membership, elected officials, regulatory bodies, allied fire service organizations, and the public. We are committed to promoting professional training and life safety standards that continuously improve California’s fire service.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fire Association Field Representative to join the CSFA team. As a Field Representative, you will be responsible for promoting and selling CSFA memberships to fire students as well as active and retired firemen in the eastern Sierra Nevada mountain area of central California. This role offers the flexibility of being a choice between a 1099 contractor or a W2 employee and requires a commitment of 20-30 hours per week.

Responsibilities:
● Promote and sell CSFA memberships to active and retired firemen in the designated region.
● Conduct face-to-face meetings with firemen at fire stations to present the benefits of CSFA membership.
● Build and maintain strong relationships with fire stations and their personnel to generate leads and referrals.
● Utilize your field sales experience to effectively communicate the value proposition of CSFA membership.
● Book appointments with fire stations and plan your travel accordingly to maximize sales opportunities.
● Actively engage in networking events and conferences to expand your knowledge and increase brand awareness.
● Provide regular updates regarding market trends, competitor activities, and potential opportunities.
Requirements:
● Proven experience as a face-to-face salesperson.
● General knowledge of firefighting and familiarity with the challenges faced by active and retired firemen.
● Ability to effectively communicate and build rapport with individuals of varying ages and backgrounds.
● Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills to close sales and generate new CSFA memberships.
● Reliable transportation and the ability to travel within the designated region as required.
● Strong organizational skills to manage appointments, travel logistics, and maintain accurate sales records.
● Self-motivated, target-oriented, and capable of working independently to achieve sales goals.
● Proficient computer skills to maintain accurate records and effectively use sales and communication tools.
● Attend bi-weekly staff meetings via Zoom or in person

Compensation:
This position offers competitive compensation based on an hourly rate of $45 per hour. In addition to the base rate, you will earn a commission of $20 for each new member you sign with CSFA. The final compensation will depend on the number of successful sales made.
