Traveling is one of the most rewarding, relaxing and healing activities that a person can do. No one needs a break from reality more than those in the emergency service industry, who are consistently exposed to things that will forever shape who they are. Whether it be noticeable at the moment or more subtle down the road, the mental strain of our job is ever present. In this short read, we will stress the importance of removing yourself from the unpredictable days at work by unplugging through travel.
With so many options, when you finally get a chance to utilize that hard-earned annual leave you’ve been saving, how do you dwindle down the when, where or what when deciding where to vacation?
Break Recommendations
Our answer: Choose between a mental-health retreat, a fun-filled vacation, or randomly choose a destination off of your bucket list. When it comes to getting that mental break from the everyday grind of shift work and responding to everyone’s emergencies, we recommend getting away, whether that be far or nearby. Going to a sanctuary you love can be the most healing thing you do. This can be done monthly, quarterly or once/twice a year for bigger, more expensive getaways….
