At the 2025 Coachella Valley Heart & Stroke Walk
As Firefighters we know the pump intake valve allows the flow of water from the hydrant into the pump panel on our fire trucks. We need to have clean water with no debris otherwise it will clog the pump and we will be unable to pump water effectively or at all if too clogged. The same with your heart. They need to be clean to effectively flow water, our hearts need to effectively flow blood throughout our bodies.
Heart disease is no stranger to firefighters. It ranks right at the top of our number one killer; for a healthy heart, watch your blood pressure. So what is the first thing you should know about blood pressure? It also impacts you. Heart disease is also the leading cause of death in the United States, responsible for nearly 1 in 3 deaths annually and costing over $400 billion each year. It affects people across all demographics, with coronary artery disease being the most common form.
So put your walking shoes on and join my good friend Team Coach Elba Ramos http://www2.heart.org/goto/
Lace up your sneakers for a day filled with music, activities, and camaraderie. Through fundraising and community engagement, the Heart & Stroke Walk aims to enhance CPR training accessibility, bolster bystander preparedness, increase funding for vital research, and ultimately, save lives.
